Last weekend on March 6/7 was given the start for the new Belgian Rallycross season with the first round of National Championship in Maasmechelen. Forty-two drivers were present in the event - four of them competed in Division 1, 12 in Division 1A, 5 in Division 2 and 21 in Division 3.
The new season started with new ambitions, though just couple of days earlier BORA (Belgian Off Road Association) dissolved the conflict in Division 1 of the season 2009. The last verdict of the tribunal was that the Champion of the last season is acknowledged and it is Jochen Coox, however after the season the title was given to Koen Pauwels.  Right after the last round Coox made a complaint about Pauwels' unsportsmanlike behaviour and just in the beginning of March BORA gave its decision. After the judgement unsatisfied were also Jos Kuypers who was taken away 17 points for the second place in the July's round. Belgian judges found something incorrect in his documents as he draw under Italian license, however Belgian ASN backed Kuypers and stated that professional driver is able to drive in National Championships of EU.

The tension between these three teams was felt during the weekend however drivers stated that they want to forget the season 2009 as fast as possible.

The winner of the first round of Belgian Rallycross Championship 2010 became Jos Kuypers (Ford Focus ST T16), who won all qualifying heats and earned Pole-position in the A-final race. He left no chances for his opponents also in the main race of the event and earned his first 20 points of the Championship. The second ended Koen Pauwels (Ford Focus ST T16) who was able to finish in front of Patrick Van Mechelen (Subaru Impreza T16) who did a couple of serious mistakes during the race.

The newly awarded Belgian Champion Jochen Coox (Škoda Fabia Mk1/6Y) being fastest in the first heat was forced to withdraw already in the second after the collision with Patrick Van Mechelen. The Škoda suffered gearbox failure.

Division One A was won by Andy Martin (VW Polo Mk4) who finished in front of Dennis Remans (Ford Fiesta ST) and the existing Champion Davy Van Den Branden (Citroen C2)

The fastest in Division 2 was Guino Kenis (BMW 120) leaving behind Jos Sterkens (For Focus ST RWD) and Ivo Van  den Brandt (Mitsubishi Colt CZT RWD).

The next round of Belgian Rallycross Championship will be held in Lydenhill (Great Britain) on April 5.
