** Norwegian rallycross driver Kjell Arne Smerud joins Olsbergs/MSE team managed by Swede Andreas Eriksson. He has signed a three year deal with the team and has become the second driver of the team. A brand new Division One Ford Fiesta Mk7 will be prepared for Smerud to fight for the European Champion's title starting already with the first round on May 1-2 in Montalegre, Portugal.

Within last two weekends two Autoslide events were held. On January 10 Slovakian Žarnovice had its turn, but a week later on January 16 another Autoslide ice race were held in Czech Pardubice. Both events were attended by a great number of autocross and rallycross drivers as well as a crowd of spectators visited the spectacular shows.

As OTS Racing team informs the work with their new Division One Škoda Fabia S2000 for Marcel Ottink is going on really fast and it seems that there will not be any problems to finish it till the beginning of the season. The team has done the work with the suspension as well as with the Škoda's body. They can concentrate now on the car's driveline. If everything will go on as prescheduled, the car will be painted at the end of the next month.

Cyril Despres wins his third Dakar in Buenos Aires after a last stage won by his support rider Ruben Faria. In the car category, Carlos Sainz gets his first Dakar victory after resisting the ultimate attack by Al Attiyah, who wins the last stage for just 36''. The Spaniard keeps a historical lead of 2'12'' in the final general standings.
